ENTRY LEVEL ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST
Adams Environmental Engineering Group, LLC is a successful, rapidly growing, minority/woman-owned business that provides high quality and cost-effective environmental consulting and engineering services. This is a growth position for an Entry-level Environmental Engineer/Scientist/Geologist to provide environmental support to various environmental assessment/remediation projects in the mid-Atlantic area. Work will include Phase I due diligence work and Phase II site investigation work sampling for soil, soil vapor, indoor air, groundwater, asbestos, lead, radon and mold. As well as supporting environmental permitting, SPCC plans, tank removals/inspections, and oil spill response/investigations.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Regular field work including sampling collection in a variety of seasonal conditions • Summarize data and prepare work plans, specifications, maps, exhibits and supporting documentation for client and regulatory approvals • Create/interpret maps for use in the field and reports including figures, tables, and database management • Provide high technical quality and safe job performance
Minimum Qualifications:
• < 1 years of experience • Bachelor’s/Masters Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Geology, engineering disciplines or related field • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite • Organizational and communication skills • Ability to conduct work outside under variable terrain and weather conditions • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and in an organized fashion • Highly motivated, self-starters that want to establish a career in environmental consulting
Desirable Qualifications:
• Experience preparing permit applications and coordinating approvals • Working knowledge/understanding of environmental regulations in MD, DC, VA, DE and PA • Experience with GPS devices and/or various soil and groundwater sampling tools • Construction experience including OSHA Hazwoper 40-Hour Certification and General Industry 10-or 30-Hour Certifications are a plus
Additional Requirements:
Requires the use of a company or personal vehicle on company business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license, have an acceptable driving record and receive a medical clearance from a baseline physical. This classification requires travel to various project locations. Travel typically involves day trips within the state or neighboring states, resulting in longer work days; and may include extended and/or further travel, resulting in multiple days and overnights. Long-term assignments may be required.
Candidate must have the ability to: Walk up and down slopes and on uneven terrain; work outdoors in extreme weather conditions for up to 10-12 hours per day; and lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Work will be split between field and office work. Field work will primarily be in the mid-Atlantic but could be anywhere based on client needs, so the ability to travel and work remotely and on weekends or extended hours (as needed) is required. Candidate must also possess the ability to gain entry into DOD facilities.

Candidates should be fluent in the English language and possess excellent verbal/written communication skills. Candidates must be able to professionally interact with clients, subcontractors, professionals and the general public. Candidates must be able to work independently within a team and also be a collaborative team member that approaches challenges with a positive attitude. Candidates must be able to function with little direction to meet project goals and able to take conceptual direction for project tasks and developed detail plans to complete task.
