Part-time Program Leader - Art Education

Purpose of Job
The purpose of this job is to assist in planning, developing and evaluating programs in the Leisure Services Department for the Athens-Clarke County community. This position oversees daily program activities, prepares materials and assures programs are maintained and staffed at an appropriate level. The position also assists with front desk duties including answering telephones, program registration, handling paperwork and directing the public as needed.

Work Schedule:
This position is scheduled for 25 hours per week from August through most of May, with the following regular hours:
Tuesday & Thursday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Wednesday: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Saturday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
During summer camp season (June–July), the schedule shifts to 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
During the fall and spring seasons, additional hours may be required to support special events and programming.
May be required to work on religious holidays.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must work cooperatively with others.
When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.
Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
High school diploma with one year of recreational programming or related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must be certified in First Aid/CPR or have ability to attain within 6 months of employment.
Supervisory experience is preferred.
When Assigned to Art Education at the Lyndon House Arts Center:
Understanding of contemporary art and art education including the fundamentals of art and design.
Works closely with the Program Specialist to ensure youth art programs align with the vision of the Art Education Department and Arts Division.
Responsible for the development and implementation of original art curriculum for ages PK - 12 grade.
Teaches art classes, workshops for youth throughout the year and during summer camp.
Development of specialized art curriculum for summer art camp based on contemporary art and artists.
Provides leadership and mentorship and support for summer camp CIT's, summer camp staff and volunteers assigned to art education.
Assists with budget and calendar planning in the art education area.
Manages the upkeep of materials and donations in the Children’s Studio.
