The Lead Employment Specialist delivers comprehensive workforce development, employment training, job placement, and follow-up services to job seekers and employers, in alignment with program requirements and organizational goals. In addition to employment practitioner responsibilities, this position provides leadership within the team by guiding and motivating colleagues, fostering effective communication, supporting professional development, and ensuring quality service delivery. The Lead Employment Specialist acts as a point of contact between management and the team, helping to translate organizational goals, policies, and initiatives into actionable team activities. The role combines direct service delivery with supplemental leadership duties, contributing to both individual and team performance outcomes. Generally workweeks will compose of an 85% practitioner/15% lead split of duties, however may fluctuate as needed due to departmental demands. As both a service provider and a front line leader, this role plays a critical part in aligning team performance with organizational priorities.
The ideal candidate is someone who has truly mastered the core case management work—someone who consistently delivers excellent outcomes with clients and is ready to take the next step in their career. They may not see themselves as a seasoned leader yet, but they have the skills, insight, and drive to support others' work, share best practices, and help raise the performance of the entire team.
This role is full time and the work will be in person, based in our Spokane WorkSource office (99202). The stability of this position depends directly upon the individual employee and team performance, goal attainment, and available funding.

ABOUT THE JOB
The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Create an inclusive, motivating, and collaborative team environment with open communication and mutual respect.
- Guide and mentor team members, answering questions, providing feedback, and offering support to ensure quality, compliance, and best practices.
- Monitor day-to-day work progress, identifying training needs, and providing or arranging coaching and professional development opportunities.
- Organize and lead team meetings, sharing updates on expectations, best practices, and program initiatives.
- Assist in developing strategies to achieve program goals, improve efficiency, and enhance service delivery.
- Act as a liaison between management and the team, communicating organizational updates, goals, and policy changes.
- Provide leadership support during manager absences, as appropriate.
Service Delivery to Job Seekers
- Conduct outreach and recruitment to engage eligible job seekers.
- Perform assessments, determine eligibility, and develop individualized service plans tailored to employment goals.
- Deliver career services, including skill development, vocational training, work experiences, job coaching, job development, and placement support.
- Provide ongoing case management, documenting services and managing an individual budget where applicable.
- Support program completion by ensuring participants are prepared for transition to unsubsidized employment and long-term success.
Employer Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with employers to connect them with qualified candidates.
- Understand employer needs, provide labor market information, and assist with recruitment, screening, interviewing, and hiring processes.
- Promote and facilitate job fairs, hiring events, and work-based learning opportunities.
- Conduct follow-up with employers to ensure satisfaction and encourage ongoing partnerships.
Program Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor performance metrics and customize retention services to maximize outcomes.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and complete data entry for all program records.
- Evaluate processes and suggest improvements for operational efficiency and service quality.
- Participate in committees, task forces, and initiatives that contribute to organizational and program development.

EXPERIENCE/POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum one-year of experience working with workforce development, social services, job placement, job development, sales, job coaching, employment and training, or related field.
• Use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; LinkedIn, and other business-related networking applications, as appropriate.
• Flexibility in working some evening and/or weekend hours
• Must be able to work in a culturally diverse and fast-paced environment and demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and cultural competency.
Preferred
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Social Work, Communication, Workforce Development, Psychology, or Sociology.
• Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP).
• Demonstrated success in a performance-based system and one-year of experience working with employers, job placement, job development, sales, workforce development, job coaching, employment, and training.
• Demonstrated success working with people from a variety of backgrounds which may include disabilities, criminal history, homeless, family violence, poverty, etc.
• Experience in public speaking and presentations to a diverse community.
• Degree in Management or leadership training
• Prior supervisory experience

Primary Location: Spokane, WA
Salary: Salary range for job offer: $55,650-62,000 annually, DOE, plus benefits. Full annual salary range for lifetime of position: $55,650-81,000.
