Event Management Internship

Looking for a fun and enriching way to improve your administrative skills? The Beerthoven Concert Series is opening an Event Management Internship, starting September 6th and finishing December 8th, to assist in managing volunteers for our uniquely approachable, classical chamber music concerts in our Winter/Spring 2025 programming. The intern will work alongside Executive Director Dr. Daniel Swayze, Beerthoven staff, and volunteer personnel. Interviews for this internship will take place between August 29th and September 4th.

This internship is also intended to serve as a training period for higher-paid, recurring work opportunities with Beerthoven following the conclusion of the internship.

Duties for the internship include:

  • Weekly meetings with Beerthoven Founder and Executive Director Daniel Swayze, at a time TBD (most of these can be held remotely)
  • Preparation of communications with Beerthoven volunteers
  • Creating strategies for overcoming challenges in running our events using our available volunteer resources.
  • Strategizing for the expansion of our volunteer pool.
  • Attendance and assistance in coordinating volunteers at our concert events: 

Expected workload is approximately 40 to 80 hours total (the hours can be adjusted within that range to fit the needs of requirements for internship credit). This is a paid internship; we are able to offer $15/hr for this semester.

Internship qualifications include:

  • Effective communication skills
  • Confident organizing abilities, including use of spreadsheets and online management tools
  • 21 and older preferred (but not required)
  • Musicians preferred
  • Occasional lifting of equipment is a part of this role; we recommend applying only if you can lift 50 pounds or more.

Beerthoven (a 501c3 nonprofit organization) is a down-to-earth, approachable celebration of classical song, chamber music, and beer; a quirky mixture of Bach and Doppelbock in unique and intimate settings. Currently in its twelfth season, Beerthoven produces over a dozen public performances each year, serving over 1,000 audience members in the Austin, TX metro annually.
