
Interventionist - Math - Teacher of Mathematics Certificate Required

Qualifications:
1. Holds or is eligible for a New Jersey Instructional/Educational Services Certificate in the content area being supported. (Teacher of English, Teacher of Mathematics, Reading Specialist)
2. Demonstrates competence in subject field(s) assigned.
3. Such other qualifications of academic, professional, and personal excellence as the Hillsborough Township Schools may specify.
Primary Function: The Interventionist plans and implements, in coordination with teachers and support staff, specialized intervention experiences through high quality, research based, instruction for at-risk students. Provides support to administrators, teachers and support staff in the implementation of the NJTSS model of intervention adopted by the district.
Report Level: Building Principal/Content Supervisor and/or designee
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Has knowledge of the NJTSS model including response to intervention and stays current on the educational issues and process associated with this model through current educational research.
2. Supports a team concept to assist at-risk students and employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting the needs of at-risk students.
3. Ensures a high quality and effective classroom experience for all children by providing activities and experiences to meet the academic, social and emotional needs, interests and abilities of students.
4. Implements and properly communicates the NJTSS model, adopted by the district, to district staff and the community.
5. Uses data to identify students’ academic strengths and areas of need.
a. Uses various methods of data collection that focus on identified student issues.
b. Assists teachers and support staff in the process of data collection and analysis.
c. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
d. Provides concise, consistent and timely information to administrators, teachers, support staff and teachers regarding classroom expectations, student progress and methods being used to assist at-risk students.
6. Uses data driven decision making practices in collaboration with teachers and support staff to develop and implement interventions for students that are academically, socially and emotionally appropriate for the age and grade of the student.
7. May participate in building and district level Intervention and Referral Services (I&RS) and NJTSS data team meetings.
8. Works collaboratively with district administration and supervisors on district goals and initiatives.
9. Establishes and maintains, with the support of administrators, standards of Student behavior appropriate to the activity.
10. Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
11. Attends staff and PLC meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
12. Takes reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. a. Assures and maintains the confidentiality of school and student records.
13. Communicates, both verbally and written, effectively with administrators, teachers, support staff, parents and students. 14. Perform other duties as assigned
