Assistant Toddler Teacher
Founded in 1971, Charlotte Montessori School is the oldest Montessori school in the city, located just on the edge of uptown. We are seeking a dependable and dedicated Assistant Toddler Teacher to join our passionate team of educators. About the Role
As the Assistant Teacher in a two-person teaching team, you’ll work in a toddler classroom serving children ages 15 to 36 months. You’ll support the Lead Teacher in creating and maintaining a nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment while taking the lead during our Extended Day program.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM–5:15 PM
Expected Hours: 40 hours/week
Key Responsibilities
- Support classroom preparation and maintain a calm, organized environment
- Assist with daily transitions: circle time, lunch, recess, nap/rest
- Engage with children to support social, emotional, and academic growth
- Participate in classroom planning meetings and school-wide faculty meetings
- Lead the Extended Day program in the afternoons
Qualifications
- Experience working with toddlers (ages 15 months–3 years)
- Energetic, patient, self-motivated, and reliable
- Respectful of children, families, and the Montessori environment
- Some knowledge of Montessori philosophy preferred
- Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
