Our team is looking to hire an Orientation Leader Development Intern.
NSO Interns are student leaders who play a significant role in facilitating the successful transition of new students to the K-State campus and in planning and executing orientation programming. K-State’s orientation and enrollment programs are comprehensive and structured to meet the academic and personal needs of new K-State students and their families.

Orientation Leader Development Intern
As the Orientation Leader Development Intern, you will focus on the onboarding and growth of the Student Orientation Leaders (SOLs), ensuring they are well-prepared and supported throughout the program. This position is ideal for students interested in leadership and team development.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist with the interviewing, onboarding, and training of Student Orientation Leaders (SOLs) and Welcome Ambassadors, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Oversee the coordination of staff materials, including name tags, t-shirts, and other essentials, ensuring all items are prepared for a successful orientation experience.
- Coordinate training sessions that equip SOLs with the tools and knowledge necessary to effectively support new students during orientation.
- Create and implement an evaluation process to assess SOL effectiveness and knowledge, enabling ongoing feedback and facilitating improvement.
- Monitor SOL performance to ensure adherence to program guidelines and high service standards, providing constructive feedback to enhance their development.
- Support team cohesion by organizing team-building activities
- Collaborate with the Orientation Logistics Intern to create and manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for orientation events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to enhance the overall success of the orientation program.

Qualifications: The minimum qualifications for the intern role include:
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm for K-State.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 and in good disciplinary standing.
- Must be enrolled as a K-State undergraduate student for the spring and fall terms of 2026.
- Exhibit responsibility, confidence, flexibility, and a team-oriented mindset, along with strong communication skills and high energy.
- Due to the considerable time commitment involved, you will not be able to take in-person classes during the summer term.
- Available for approximately 15 hours a week from January 20, 2026, through the end of the spring term.
- Available for 40 hours per week from May 26, 2026, through August 23, 2026.
- Must sign and uphold the terms of the 2026 Student Orientation Intern Agreement.
- Must be available and able to attend all Mandatory Dates of Employment (see below), including training, team meetings, orientation programs, planning sessions, etc. Please do NOT apply if you cannot meet this criterion.
Dates of Employment:
Please note: Prior to official hiring, all selected Student Orientation Interns will be required to sign off on specific dates. While most dates will be finalized by Mini Camp, all dates and times are subject to change.
Key Dates for the 2025-2026 Academic Year:
Thursday, March 26th, 2026 (6:00-8:00pm) OR Saturday, March 28th, 2026 (9:00-11:00pm): Mini Camp- Choose one to attend.
May 25th, 2026 - June 5th, 2026: Student Orientation Leader (SOL) Training.
June 8th - June 26th, 2026: Orientation Programs.
This includes Saturday, June 13th and Saturday, June 20th
July 13th – August 11th: Orientation Programs.
Thursday, August 20th - Sunday, August 23rd, 2026: K-State Kickoff Programming.
**Please note: All orientation staff will have time off from June 29th to July 10th, 2026.
