Advancement Summer Internship Program - Corporate & Community Development / Children’s Miracle Network Intern

The University of Iowa Center for Advancement (UICA) is currently providing opportunities for full time paid summer internships. UICA encourages students from all backgrounds to explore careers in nonprofit settings, promote engagement with the University of Iowa, support and advance the university and its programs through meaningful pre-professional opportunities, and support potential graduates to obtain roles within our organization.

The UICA will provide 9 intern opportunities that provide 10 weeks of work experience, June 1 - August 7. Internships are open to Fall 2026 2nd year college students, through May & December 2026 graduates from any college or university. Interns will earn $18/hour and will be provided with the flexibility and technology to work from home two days per week if desired. Up to five unpaid vacation days will be available throughout the internship program if desired. At the conclusion of the internship, all interns are expected to give a final presentation highlighting their experience and projects they have worked on. Housing and benefits are not available as part of the intern experience and interns must be within driving distance of our Iowa City, IA office.

As an intern, you’ll support the University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital Corporate and Community Development Fundraising team, focusing on corporate partnerships, third party fundraising and community engagement. You’ll assist with campaigns, events, and programs while helping lead efforts such as Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute corporate campaigns (e.g., Miracle Treat Day, Walmart)
  • Support KHAK Radiothon logistics and community sponsor outreach
  • Assist with third-party fundraising events, including intake, attendance, and check presentations
  • Represent the hospital at events, tours, and presentations
  • Provide administrative support (e.g., iStar entries, event prep)

This role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising, event coordination, and corporate outreach.
