Youth Design Program Intern
We’re looking for a Design Intern to support our youth designer program and help spark creativity through hands-on design projects. This role offers real-world experience in areas like graphic design, fashion upcycling, screen printing, and sewing. About YBF & Our Designer Program:
Youth for a Better Future (YBF) is committed to empowering Chicago’s youth through academic, artistic, physical, and social development. This upcoming semester, we’re launching a Youth Designers Club once again. Running from January 5 – June 4, the program meets twice a week and offers students the chance to explore creativity through art and design.
What You’ll Do:
- Learn & Support – Work closely with staff to understand the structure and goals of the design program.
- Assist with Sessions – Help set up materials and equipment for each session, including iPads, fabric, sewing tools, and screen printing supplies.
- Engage with Students – Encourage youth as they create projects, offering guidance and fostering a fun, supportive environment.
- Contribute Creatively – Share ideas and help demonstrate techniques in graphic design, upcycling, and DIY fashion.
- Be a Team Player – Collaborate with the YBF team and other interns to keep sessions organized and impactful.
What We’re Looking For:
- A passion for art, fashion, and creative expression
- Interest in working with youth and supporting their growth
- Basic skills in graphic design (Procreate, Canva, etc.) or sewing (a plus, not required)
- A positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn
- Ability to commit to scheduled program days (2 days/week from January 5 – June 4)
