Job Title: Spanish Language Support Teacher
We are looking for passionate Spanish Language Support Teachers to join our team! The Spanish Language Support Teacher is responsible for providing support to students who are learning Spanish as a second language. Our teachers develop lesson plans and assessments that take into account the specific needs of students in our programs. Additionally, our teachers collaborate with other teachers and school administrators to ensure effective programming that meets the needs of all students. Overall, the role of the dual language program teacher requires a high level of language proficiency, cultural competence, and pedagogical expertise.
What you will be doing
- Providing one-on-one or small group instruction to students who need addtional support in learning Spanish
- Planning and implementing lessons that are designed to promote language acquisition and proficiency, as well as academic content knowledge
- Providing instruction using a variety of teaching techniques and strategies, such as visual aids, hands-on activities, and cooperative learning
- Assessing student progress, monitoring student achievement and adjusting instruction as necessary to ensure that students are making progress toward language proficiency and academic goals
- Collaborating with classroom teachers to ensure that Spanish language instruction is integrated into the overall curriculum
- Working collaboratively with other teachers, school administrators and parents to ensure that the program is effective, meets the needs of all students and provides opportunities for students to develop cultural competence and appreciation for different cultures
- Creating a positivve and inclusive environment that supports the needs of all students, including those who are not native Spanish speakers
What you bring to the table
- Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Education
- PA Instructional Certification or eligibility for instructional certification in Pennsylvania
- Content knowledge and skills to successfully teach assigned content areas and grade levels, in addition to classroom management, organization, planning, instructional delivery, and technical skills
- Ability to motivate and build relationships with parents, students and staff to promote student achievement and strengthen community partnerships.
- Good understanding of the cultural and linguistic nuances of the Spanish language
- Ability to adapt teaching style to meet the needs of diverse learners

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 10-months, exempt
- This position is for in-person work at our location
- 180 instructional days, 197 work days (new staff members work additional days for induction/orientation)
- In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable
- To be eligible to work for Pan American Academy Charter School, you must complete and submit background clearances and paperwork prior to your start date. We are able to accept clearances if they are less than one year old from the date a new employee presents them to Human Resources.
