Zip Line & Climbing Wall Facilitator
Position Summary
The Zip Line / Climbing Wall Facilitator supports the safe and exciting operation of Camp Bashor @ Otay Lakes County Park’s high-adventure zip line as part of the camp’s COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) program. This position focuses on participant safety, equipment management, and delivering a positive adventure experience consistent with Scouting America’s National Camp Standards.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate the zip line & climbing wall in compliance with Scouting America COPE and Climbing Standards.
- Perform safety inspections of the zip line, climbing wall, harnesses, helmets, and belay systems.
- Conduct participant briefings on safety procedures, proper equipment use, and course rules.
- Assist with course setup, maintenance, and documentation of inspections.
- Monitor participant progress and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain professionalism and promote Scouting values at all times.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other camp duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum age: 18 (required).
- Ability to work at heights and in outdoor environments for extended periods.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with a focus on safety and teamwork.
- Positive attitude and commitment to youth development and outdoor education.
