Capitol Office Intern
I am seeking a Student Intern to join my Capitol Office for the Spring 2026 semester. The internship will run from January through April or May 2026, with an expected workload of 15 to 21 hours per week. Under the supervision of my Chief of Staff and Legislative Director, the intern will gain firsthand experience with the state legislative process and the day-to-day operations of a Capitol Office.
As an intern, you may assist with policy research, draft background materials, talking points, and letters, help track legislation, support staff during committee hearings, and participate in stakeholder meetings. You will also take on administrative responsibilities such as answering phones, sorting mail, greeting visitors, and performing other duties as assigned. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to learn how a legislative office evaluates bills, develops policy positions, and engages with state agencies, community organizations, and constituents.
I am looking for a student with a strong interest in public policy and California state government, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. Strong writing abilities, attention to detail, and initiative are essential.
