Part-Time Behavior Technician

The Behavior Agency is looking for a part-time Behavior Technician (BT) to provide ABA therapy in Santa Maria. As a BT, you will be providing direct implementation of Natural Developmental Behavioral Interventions (NDBI), utilizing the principles of ABA, to individuals with autism and related disabilities, under the direct supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Each behavior technician will be part of a small clinic team led by a Case Supervisor and overseen by a BCBA.

The mission of The Behavior Agency is to provide high-quality, and individualized, ABA therapy, using Pivotal Response Teaching (PRT) and other evidence-based Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Interventions (NDBI) to individuals with autism and related developmental disabilities.

  • The agency provides services Monday - Friday.
  • This position would require to be available in the afternoon until 6:30pm, at least 3-times a week.

Pay is $24-$26/hour, DOE.

  • Training is paid at minimum wage and is approximately 30-40 hours total. Benefits provided for full-time employees (minimum of 30 hours/week).

Responsibilities:

- Provide direct ABA therapy to individuals with autism or developmental disabilities in the home and/or community settings.

- Must be willing to work with clients that may engage in challenging behaviors in the form of hitting, throwing items, verbal threats, other forms of aggression, and/or attempting to escape from the area or building.

- Implement treatment plans and behavior intervention strategies under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

- Collect and record data on client progress and behavior.

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical documentation and records.

- Attend all required initial and ongoing job trainings and team meetings.

- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures and abide by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) code of ethics.

- Keep all scheduled appointments and attempt to schedule make-up sessions for canceled appointments. We are providing a medically necessary service, and our clients depend on us.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must have at least 6 months of relevant experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Must have successfully completed (with a B or higher) at least 2 post-high school courses in a related field (minimum of 6 credits). We can consider 3 credits if you are in progress with your second course, and have earned at least a B in the first course. Acceptable courses include psychology, child development, behavioral health or behavioral analysis, sociology, education, human services
  • Must have reliable transportation with valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and registration
  • Must be willing to drive to multiple locations in a day
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be available to complete all days of your training cohort. Failure to attend all training days will result in waiting until the next available cohort, and/or termination if work is no longer available
