Teacher Residency Program
The SINAI Teacher Residency Program recruits and trains individuals to become exceptional special education teachers through a highly supportive school-based teacher training program.
Over the two-year program, teacher residents train in SINAI classrooms with mentor teachers while pursuing graduate studies and participating in ongoing professional development, including workshops and coaching.
Additional Information
Resident Teachers will work at SINAI schools in New Jersey or New York. They are eligible for all benefits provided to SINAI employees.
Qualifications
The SINAI Teacher Residency Program is open to college graduates who have earned or will earn their bachelor’s degree before August 2026. This is an entry level position and all majors should apply. Successful candidates are likely to have the following attributes:
- Growth-oriented
- Excellent communications/interpersonal skills
- Passion for teaching
- Adaptable, flexible
- Strong-problem solving skills
The SINAI Schools Teacher Residency has two tracks, Advanced Teacher Residents and Teacher Residents.
Advanced Teacher Residents
For individuals who have completed a BA or BS in education and have received teacher certification in New Jersey or New York. Advanced Teacher Residents will:
- Work in a SINAI school as a teacher
- Receive professional training with curricula used in SINAI classrooms, as needed
- Participate in professional development and related activities with a cohort of other residents
- Receive a stipend to pursue graduate studies in special education
- Be mentored by experienced SINAI teachers and staff
Teacher Residents
For individuals with a BA or a BS in any subject with the desire and motivation to become a special education teacher. Teacher Residents will:
- Work in a SINAI school as an assistant teacher
- Receive professional training with curricula used in SINAI classrooms
- Obtain increasing levels of responsibility as their knowledge base and skills increase
- Be mentored by experienced SINAI teachers and staff
Participate in professional development and related activities with a cohort of other residents - Receive a stipend to pursue graduate studies in special education
