Are you passionate about strengthening local food systems, expanding food access, and supporting community-based education? Nourish Iowa AmeriCorps is now recruiting for a Local Food System Education & Outreach VISTA serving with Field to Family.
About the Host Site
Field to Family works to increase access to local food in Iowa so more people in institutions such as schools, retirement communities, colleges, universities, and hospitals can enjoy meals grown by farmers just miles away. They envision a strong, community-based Eastern Iowa food system with the infrastructure to support a thriving wholesale market for foods that are high quality, fairly priced, and sustainably produced.
Their work strengthens connections between farmers and communities while expanding access to locally grown and produced food throughout the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids region.
About the Role
As the Local Food System Education & Outreach VISTA, you will strengthen Field to Family’s educational programming and community engagement efforts. Your service will build long-term capacity and improve outreach, communication, and learning opportunities that support a more accessible local food system.
What You’ll Do
* Learn the organization’s operations and improve onboarding processes
* Support communication with partners, supporters, and schools
* Update and organize educational resource materials
* Develop outreach plans to expand community engagement
* Assist with events promoting local food and farm-to-school initiatives
* Enhance Field to Family’s online platform for sharing food and farm stories
* Support efforts to strengthen local food system education
This role is ideal for someone who is organized, collaborative, and eager to support local food education and community outreach.
