Washington Sea Grant offers unique, paid educational opportunities for emerging professionals.
Highly motivated, qualified individuals are teamed with mentors in a host office for one to two years, working on marine and coastal projects. Apply for the Hershman Fellowship, the Coastal Resilience Fellowship and/or the Keystone Fellowship.

Coastal Resilience
The Washington Sea Grant Coastal Resilience Fellowship offers a unique paid educational opportunity for early or shifting career professionals to provide additional capacity for coastal communities around coastal resilience. Highly motivated, qualified individuals are teamed with mentors in a host office for two years, working on coastal resilience-related projects. Hosts provide mentorship, supervision, and opportunities for fellows that support their professional and educational goals. Through collaborative work planning, fellows’ projects will build capacity and provide tangible results for host organizations
Hershman (Graduate Students)
The Washington Sea Grant Hershman Fellowship offers a unique educational opportunity for soon-to-graduate or recently finished graduate students engaged in studies pertaining to ocean and coastal policy issues. This one-year, paid marine policy fellowship matches highly motivated, qualified individuals with host agencies, nonprofits or tribes throughout Washington State. The Washington Sea Grant Hershman Fellowship offers students first-hand experiences in crafting marine and natural resource policies and allows them to share their academic expertise with their host offices.
Keystone (BA and Grad Students)
The Washington Sea Grant (WSG) Keystone Fellowship aims to create pathways into marine-related careers for individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences and broaden participation in these fields. The program’s goal is to cultivate the next generation of marine and coastal science and policy leaders who are representative of the full spectrum of Washington state communities. Open to all students who wish to pursue careers in marine science and policy.
