Department:  Manufacturing; Dyehouse

Position:         Dyehouse Lab Technician

Location:        68 Ransom St Dolgeville, NY 13329

 

Qualifications: Math or science background required, lab classes preferred.  Previous supervisory experience preferred.  Textile or dyeing background a plus but not required.  Training provided.  General reading of work orders, effective communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced production environment, and ability to continuously learn and retain specific job skills.  Must have strong attention to detail and be able to work in a team environment.  Computer and communication skills essential. Must have the ability to pass the Ishihara Color test.  

 

Summary:  The Lab Assistant reports directly to the Lab Supervisor and assists in sample dyeing by following written dye formulas.  Prepares the samples and follows wet testing procedures and maintains testing results

 

Responsibilities:

  • Follows written dyeing procedures
  • Weigh and mix dyes for each day's use 
  • Understands how to operate the lab dyeing equipment
  • Follow written testing procedures and evaluate and record testing results
  • Work with common laboratory equipment (scales, pipettes etc.)
  • Keep laboratory area and equipment clean

Physical Requirements:

  • Perform tasks at moderate pace and be neat and well organized
  • Must be comfortable moving about various machines which includes climbing stairs
  • Good vision and color perception required
  • Works around loud machines, wet floors and steaming environments
