The Ursuline School is a private, independent, Catholic, college preparatory girls’ school serving grades 6–12 in New Rochelle, located just 20 miles north of Manhattan in a diverse suburban community. Position Overview

The Ursuline School seeks a passionate and dedicated Italian Teacher to join our faculty and teach Italian language courses to students in grades 6–12. The ideal candidate will create an engaging and student-centered learning environment that fosters language acquisition, communication skills, cultural appreciation, and critical thinking while supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of students.

The successful candidate will inspire students to develop confidence and proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Italian while cultivating an appreciation for Italian language and culture through meaningful and interactive learning experiences.

Start Date: 9/1/2026

Position: Full-time; Middle and High School (6 - 12)

Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000 commensurate with background and experience

Responsibilities

  • Teach Italian language courses to students in grades 6–12, including introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels as assigned.
  • Plan and implement engaging, interactive lessons that support language acquisition, communication skills, cultural understanding, and critical thinking.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and student-centered classroom environment that encourages active participation and collaboration.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of students.
  • Utilize instructional technology and a variety of educational resources to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Maintain high expectations for student achievement, growth, and classroom participation.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate professionally with colleagues on curriculum development, interdisciplinary initiatives, and student support.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and school administration.
  • Participate actively in faculty meetings, committees, school events, and student activities.
  • Support cultural programming and enrichment activities that promote appreciation of Italian language and culture.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development through conferences, training, and current educational research.


 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Italian, World Language Education, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Italian required.
  • Experience teaching middle and/or high school students preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse learning styles and language backgrounds.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
