Floral Design Assistant Trainee

The Floral Design Assistant Trainee supports the floral design team in creating arrangements, maintaining inventory, and preparing orders. This entry-level role is designed for individuals interested in developing skills in floral design, customer service, and shop operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required)
- Interest in floral design, horticulture, or creative arts
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, especially during holidays and events
- Basic communication and customer service skills

Key Responsibilities
- Assist floral designers with preparing and assembling arrangements for events, daily orders, and special occasions
- Process and condition flowers (cutting, hydrating, cleaning stems, removing foliage)
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workspace, cooler, and tools
- Help receive, unpack, and store flower shipments and supplies
- Support inventory tracking and restocking of floral materials and supplies
- Prepare vases, containers, ribbons, and decorative elements for use
- Assist with order packing, labeling, and delivery preparation
- Take orders by phone and enter in computer
- Provide basic customer service, including answering questions and taking simple orders
- Learn proper care, handling, and design techniques under supervision
Working Conditions
- May work in cool environments (floral coolers)
- Exposure to water, plant materials, and floral tools
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays (e.g., Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day)
