Installation & Spatial Design Intern (Architecture / Design Focus, Hybrid)
Overview
The Installation & Spatial Design Intern supports the physical construction and conceptual layout of exhibitions. This role is ideal for students in architecture, interior design, spatial design, or related fields who are interested in real-world gallery building and exhibition design.
Responsibilities
- Assist with installation and de-installation of exhibitions
- Support hanging systems, track lighting, and physical artwork placement
- Develop exhibition floor plans and spatial layouts
- Contribute ideas for visitor flow, display systems, and spatial design improvements
- Support preparation of gallery spaces for exhibitions and events
- Work on visualizing installation concepts (digital or sketch-based planning)
Requirements
- Background or strong interest in architecture, interior design, or spatial practice
- Comfortable with hands-on installation work
- Strong spatial reasoning and design thinking skills
- Ability to collaborate in physical and conceptual stages of exhibition-making
- Familiarity with design tools (SketchUp, AutoCAD, Rhino, etc.) is a plus
Details
- 15 hours/week
- Hybrid with required in-person presence during installs and exhibitions
- Flexible schedule depending on exhibition calendar
