Occupational Nurse

Occupational Nurse - Environmental Health and Safety

Purpose:
Direct the development, implementation and evaluation of the Occupational Health Program for the plant to meet established goals and objectives.

Essential Functions: 
• Develop and manage occupational health programs in partnership with management and the EHS team to align with corporate goals. Update relevant EH&S policies and procedures as needed. Provide certain EH&S training 
• Assist the EH&S Group Leader with Industrial Hygiene and Environmental reporting - maintains company OSHA 300 log, Incident Documentation, etc.
• Coordinates with janitorial / maintenance staff to ensure clean and safe environment and problem resolution for EH&S concerns within the facility.
• Assess, treat, and manage workplace injuries and illnesses, including case management and facilitating timely return-to-work.
• Conduct medical evaluations (pre-employment, return-to-work, and fit-for-duty) to ensure employees are medically qualified for job tasks.
• Administer medical leave programs and coordinate care for non-occupational conditions (e.g., FMLA, STD/LTD).
• Maintain confidential health records and ensure compliance with healthcare privacy standards and occupational health regulations.
• Oversees equipment and supplies in the plant Health Center. Deliver employee health services, including counseling, education, wellness initiatives, and referrals (including mental health support).
• Lead health surveillance and regulatory programs, such as hearing conservation, bloodborne pathogens, and other monitoring.
• Analyze and report injury and illness data, support OSHA recordkeeping, and identify trends to drive risk reduction.
• Partner with EHS to identify and mitigate workplace hazards, including conducting ergonomic assessments and supporting PPE programs.
• Support emergency preparedness and on-site medical readiness, including leadership, training, and management of first responders.

• Other duties as assigned by manager

Scope/Dimensions: 
• Management oversight of the EHS program for a single site manufacturing and delivery facility with over 10 advanced manufacturing production cells.
• Frequent interaction with customer and vendor representatives, regulatory representatives, senior management, and peers/subordinates at this site and other company locations.
• Ability to reinforce Behavioral Safety with a presence at Shop Floor and engagement with leadership team.

Qualifications Required: 
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current license (LPN minimum)
• Skills in problem-solving, independent nursing judgment, and decision making.
• Minimum of three years Nursing experience, certified in CPR
• Must have knowledge of workers compensation, FMLA, Short and Long Term Disability.
• Approachable and understands the importance of confidentiality
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are required.

Qualifications Desired: )
• Audiometric & Vision testing experience and certification
• Certification as CPR instructor
• O.H.N./ B.S.N.
• Three years of Occupational Health Nursing
• Experience supporting EH&S department
• Experience with development/coordination of Health & Wellness program

Other Requirements:  
• Demands and priorities need adjusted regularly to provide a high level of service under tight timelines to several customers-internally or externally.
• Relies on experience and understanding of Occupational Health Nursing; Worker’s Compensation; Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations to determine proper actions.
• Key relationships with internal leadership team, employees, and interested parties to ensure successful and mutual concern resolution.

• 9 hour work day is standard but this role requires availability a wide variety of hours/days. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Physical Environment:
• While performing the duties of this position, the associate frequently works around moving machines/parts in an industrial environment. The associate occasionally works around industrial chemicals. The associate occasionally must travel by commercial means or private transport.  Regular and predictable attendance at the manufacturing plant is required.
