Tiny Star Young Author Lab Teacher

Tiny Star Young Author Lab is seeking experienced, creative educators to teach children's authorship afterschool programs in 2 Massachusetts Wellesley public elementary schools. Educators-in-training with elementary education experience, undergraduate students, and graduate students with experience working with children ages 6–10 are warmly encouraged to apply. Applicants must currently reside in Massachusetts and have access to reliable transportation, as teaching assignments are located at elementary schools across the Greater Boston area.

Teachers' training and teaching materials will be provided.
 

Teaching Schedule

Programs begin September 16, 2026. Applicants may choose one or multiple locations based on availability.

Wellesley Bates Elementary Schools: Mondays: 9/28-12/7, 3:10–4:10 PM         
Wellesley Hardy Elementary Schools: Thursdays: 10/1-12/17, 3:10–4:10 PM         

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver structured classes using Tiny Star’s ready-to-use lesson plans and teaching materials.
• Guide students through storytelling, writing, illustration, and presentation activities.
• Maintain strong classroom management and create a focused, positive, and engaging learning environment.
• Monitor individual progress and provide appropriate support, encouragement, and feedback.
• Communicate professionally with the Tiny Star team, parents, and school staff.

Ideal Candidate

• Faculty, undergraduate students, and graduate students with experience working with children ages 6–10 are encouraged to apply.
• Background in elementary education, creative writing, literature, child development, and art.
• Warm, creative, engaging, patient, and dependable personality.
• Strong classroom-management skills and the ability to guide students.
• Passion for helping children build confidence through storytelling and creativity.
• Strong spoken and written English (native or fluent).
• Reliable transportation to the assigned teaching location.
• Ability to commit to the full 8-lesson program.
