Position Title: Hamline School of Business Intern
Supervisor: Division Chair, Hamline School of Business
Compensation: $2,000 / semester stipend (~$16.37 per hour)
Time Commitment: Approximately 120 hours per semester (~8–10 hours per week)
Position Overview
The Hamline School of Business (HSB) Intern plays a vital operational and administrative role in supporting core business school programming, flagship events, and student leadership. Working directly under the supervision of the HSB Division Chair, the intern gains valuable, hands-on experience in program coordination, event execution, student/mentor engagement, and project management.
This position offers direct insight into higher education operations, event marketing, and administration, making it an ideal professional development opportunity for students looking to develop their project management and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Career Mentor Program Support
- Assist in managing communications between student mentees and alumni/professional mentors.
- Support program onboarding, logistics, and tracking student engagement throughout the semester.
- Organize materials and coordinate logistics for mentor program orientation sessions and networking check-ins.
Alkire Symposium Event Planning & Execution
- Provide core administrative and support for the annual Alkire Symposium.
- Assist with guest speaker coordination, venue setup, RSVP tracking, catering organization, and event day execution.
- Help create promotional materials, event programs, and outreach content to drive student and faculty attendance.
- Division Chair, Event & Leadership Support
- Carry out direct administrative tasks, schedule coordination, and preparation for HSB leadership initiatives.
- Provide support for Center for Public Administration and Leadership events including the Women in Public Service Conference, Water Utilities Management Institute and Certified Public Manager Program.
- Draft, edit, and organize internal communication, committee meeting prep, or presentation slides.
- Serve as a reliable point of contact between HSB leadership and visiting guests.
General Office & Programmatic Project Management
- Oversee general office operations and administrative tasks within the HSB main office.
- Lead or support ongoing special projects, program tracking, and digital filing/record maintenance.
- Assist with HSB student communication channels (e.g., newsletters, bulletin boards, social media updates).
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- Currently enrolled undergraduate student at Hamline University.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle multiple tasks.
- Proficiency with standard office tools (Google Workspace).
Preferred:
- Majors or minors within the Hamline School of Business.
- Prior experience with event planning, project tracking, or student organization leadership.
- High degree of professionalism and discretion when working with leadership and external guests.
