Responsibilities:
- Embrace and actively promote the school’s core values, mission, and educational philosophy.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver engaging, thoughtful History and Social Studies lessons that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of the world.
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, and engaging in thoughtful discussion.
- Develop lesson plans and effective classroom management strategies that support student engagement and academic growth.
- Lead instruction in History and related subject areas, which may include U.S. History, World History, Government, Civics, Geography, or other Social Studies courses.
- Incorporate primary sources, historical documents, current events, research, writing, discussion, and project-based learning into classroom instruction.
- Help students develop strong research, writing, analytical, communication, and critical-thinking skills through the study of history and social sciences.
- Adapt instruction to support students with a range of learning styles, interests, and abilities.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and families through email, phone calls, in-person conversations, parent-teacher conferences, and student progress reports.
- Collaborate with fellow faculty members to develop new teaching strategies, strengthen instructional practices, and continue growing as an educator.
- Opportunities may be available to coach or support extracurricular activities, often with an additional stipend.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, Social Studies, or a related field required. 2026 graduates are welcome to apply!
- Passion for History and enthusiasm for helping students understand the people, events, ideas, and cultures that have shaped our world.
- An aspiring educator with a growth mindset and willingness to learn and develop new teaching strategies.
- Demonstrated experience or interest in working with students or young people; experience through tutoring, coaching, teaching, mentoring, camp counseling, or similar roles is welcome.
- Strong interest in discussion-based, inquiry-driven, and student-centered learning.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a positive school community.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- No teaching credential or certification required; a passion for working in education is essential.
- Enthusiasm for engaging students in meaningful discussions, historical inquiry, research, and analysis.
