Della Ratta Fellowship

The Partnership for Global Security (PGS) is seeking candidates for the Della Ratta Global Energy and Security Fellowship. The selection will be of one and possibly two fellows depending on the quality of the applicants. This is a six-month stipend-supported position. The applicant’s term will run from March-August 2027.

The Della Ratta Fellowship is a unique opportunity for early career candidates to develop the skills and experience that are necessary for a rapidly evolving technological, security, and geopolitical environment. The primary focus is on addressing the intensifying intersection of nuclear energy and commerce, climate change, global security, geopolitics, and international energy security. This is a policy-focused fellowship, and applicants must have demonstrated experience in the ability to perform crosscutting work that integrates a wide variety of issues and disciplines into cohesive and insightful analysis.

The fellow will contribute to the work of an internationally recognized non-governmental organization with an ambitious, forward-looking agenda.

Responsibilities

Provide research, implementation, and communications support for the following.

• Projects on the intersection of nuclear energy and commerce, climate change, geopolitics, and global and energy security.
• Analyses of nuclear newcomer nations for nuclear power deployment.
• Analyses of nuclear governance evolutions required to support advanced nuclear reactor safeguards and security.
• Contributions to the production of the Nuclear News and Views bi-weekly newsletter.
• Summarizing and drafting issue updates, memos, presentations, and related activities.
• Supporting the development of presentations, visuals, and analysis on PGS’ issue areas.
• Providing social media, website management, and related administrative support.
• Supporting the planning and organization of primarily on-line meetings, including drafting agendas and invitations, and event execution.

Position Details

• This is a $15,000 stipend-supported six-month position. There are no fringe benefits.
• The fellowship is fully remote work.
• PGS is unable to support international students requiring U.S. work visas.
• Due to visa limitations, we are only able to accept U.S. citizens for this position.
• PGS is committed to providing the successful candidate with significant hands-on experience that will be career-enhancing and facilitate the transition to more senior positions post-employment.
• Fellowship terms run from February-July and August-January.
• The applicant’s term will run from August 2026-January 2027.

Qualifications

• Previous professional work experience, including internship experience, in the core research areas identified in the responsibilities section.
• A demonstrated commitment to the PGS multi-disciplinary agenda.
• Ability and willingness to think outside the traditional issue silos (including nonproliferation and nuclear security) to focus on understanding and explaining how new global dynamics and technologies are impacting the modern nuclear landscape.
• Collegial and self-motivated work ethic.
• Attention to detail and ability to effectively work independently.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in international affairs, political science, regional studies, energy policy, or other relevant areas of study.
• Strong administrative skills with the ability to plan, organize, and cheerfully follow direction.
• Demonstration of strong writing, research, organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Experience using Microsoft 365 programs is essential (proficiency with PowerPoint is important).
• Experience with data analysis and analytical tools (Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Excel) is a plus.
• Experience with event planning and coordination is welcome.
