About the Team: The Electronic Warfare Support Measures (ESM) Branch is engaged in the research and development (R&D) of advanced passive electronic warfare systems. Code 5720 employees conduct R&D, prototype design, and operational testing of ESM systems/subsystems associated with all disciplines of modern ESM systems. The ESM Branch at NRL has a long history of directly supporting the warfighter through a combination of long term system developments as well as the delivery of quick reaction capabilities (QRC). The ESM Branch also provides support to the Intelligence Community, particularly in the area of special signal collection. About the Job: The incumbent will work conduct budget and financial work utilizing Microsoft Office. They will also perform various functions such as preparing forms, logging documents, reviewing travel orders, and organizing data. They will prepare a wide range of documents in final format.
About you: This position is responsible for creating state of the art software for electronic support (ES), typically embedded in experimental real-time hardware systems. The position requires software engineering skills including reading, writing, editing, testing, troubleshooting, and validating C++ software. The position also requires designing, implementing and validating new capabilities, teamwork, and effective oral and written communication. In addition to proficiency in C++, candidates should have experience in one or more of the following: Matlab, Python, Java, Cuda, Qt/Qc. The position also requires the ability to understand mathematical and electrical engineering concepts at an undergraduate level. Additional desirable skills and knowledge areas include radio frequency (RF) circuitry, digital hardware, or Machine Learning.
Note: This announcement is for a full-time, in-person position located at NRL in SW Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will work full-time while maintaining half-time student status, as we expect to fill this position immediately rather than waiting until after graduation.
