Job Description and Duties

Under the close supervision of the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor), the Accountant Trainee, in a learning capacity, will perform professional accounting duties related to the review, audit, and approval of Travel Expense claims and special projects related to Travel.
 

The position is headquartered in the Natural Resources Building located in downtown Sacramento. The office is right next to Light Rail for an easy commute and features ergonomic furniture, panoramic downtown views, a free employee gym, a cafeteria and bodega, and adjacent childcare.

Position may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule depending on operational needs.  
 

This position is a 12-month Limited Term (LT) and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

 

If you currently have permanent status in your position and have passed probation, you have mandatory reinstatement rights into your former position at the end of this LT appointment. If you have not had prior permanent or probationary civil service status, you will be separated from state service.

 

During this 12-month Limited Term assignment, you will receive full health, dental, and vision benefits! You will also earn State Service and accrue monthly leave credits.

 

Multiple positions may become available.

In order to be eligible for this position, you must either be transfer eligible or take and pass the following exam.

Working Conditions

Ability to use a computer keyboard several hours a day. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings and hearings via private or public transportation; work with staff and/or vendors necessary to complete work assignments. Headquartered in a high-rise building.

 

This position qualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness Accrual Credit
